DESCRIPTION:+Jetzt anmelden+++ \nSeit Monaten ist der Green Deal unter Beschuss. Nach massivem Druck von der Lobby der Agrarindustrie wurde die Pestizidverordnung vom Parlament komplett abgelehnt\, und das Gesetz zur Rettung der Natur vom Rat vorerst blockiert. \nDoch damit nicht genug! In der letzten Plenarwoche vor den Wahlen hat das EU-Parlament im Eilverfahren die ohnehin schon unzureichenden Natur- und Umweltschutzauflagen sowie Nachhaltigkeitsaspekte aus der Gemeinsamen Agrarpolitik gestrichen. \nDas ist ein Schlag ins Gesicht der Wissenschaft. Unter dem Vorwand des „Bürokratieabbaus“ erfüllen liberale und rechtskonservative Politiker*innen die Wunschliste der industrialisierten Landwirtschaft und gefährden so die langfristige Ernährungssicherheit. \nBisher sind landwirtschaftliche Betriebe zum Erhalt von Subventionen verpflichtet\, vier Prozent ihrer Flächen brach liegen zu lassen\, zur Vorbeugung gegen Schädlingsbefall Fruchtfolgen anzubauen und durch Begrünung Erosionsschutz zu gewährleisten. DESCRIPTION:Wir Grüne haben in Europa viel erreicht. Wir haben die Europäische Union auf Klimakurs gebracht. Mit den Ausbauzielen für Erneuerbare Energien und Millionen für Klimainvestitionen tut die EU so viel für den Klimaschutz und die Zukunftssicherheit Europas wie nie zuvor. Wir sind eine treibende Kraft im Einsatz für Rechtsstaatlichkeit und Demokratie.  Wir haben Europas Außenpolitik grüner und sicherer gemacht und dazu beigetragen\, die Übermacht von Google und Co zu zähmen. \nWir mussten auch Kompromisse machen und manchmal über unseren Schatten springen\, um überhaupt Verbesserungen zu erreichen. Das war nicht immer einfach. So wollten wir den Klimasozialfonds deutlich besser ausstatten. Aber das entmutigt uns nicht\, sondern spornt uns im Gegenteil an. Wir wollen Europa besser machen\, und dafür setzen wir uns auch weiterhin mit allen Kräften ein. Denn eines ist sicher: Es bleibt noch viel zu tun. This moment offers a real opportunity to reflect on the use of glyphosate-based herbicides and pesticides in general in public spaces\, where residents are exposed\, including the most vulnerable groups of our population\, such as children and pregnant women. Ahead of the re-authorisation of glyphosate-based products at national level\, PAN Europe wants to seize the opportunity to bring together experts and policymakers to discuss the need to limit the use of glyphosate and pesticides in general\, and to show that alternative safer management methods of public spaces exist\, are efficient and have many benefits. \nUnder Article 12 of the Directive 128/2009 (EC)\, Member States have to ensure that the use of pesticides is minimised or prohibited in certain specific areas. Some Member States have implemented this\, but many have not\, leaving a lot of room for improvement. This is crucial because scientific evidence underscores the harmful effects of pesticides on human health. A report by the French institute Inserm highlights the link between pesticide exposure and several health concerns\, including certain cancers\, respiratory illnesses\, and neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s. One of the pesticides studied was glyphosate. \nIn response to these ongoing challenges\, PAN Europe is organizing this event\, to protect the health of citizens and declining biodiversity and promote the adoption of sustainable and safe alternatives to glyphosate. \nPesticide Action Network Europe (PAN Europe) is a non-profit organisation working on reducing the use of harmful pesticides. We are science-based\, composed of experts in different areas related to pesticides\, with 50 members throughout Europe.
