However, our research also reveals that significant opposition to progress remains, particularly from entities in the oil & gas and agricultural sectors. Companies and industry associations from these sectors are actively pushing back against the development of robust methane emissions regulations, which are needed to reduce the climate impact of these potent greenhouse gases.

In this webinar, InfluenceMap will be joined by a Member of the European Parliament to explore the current landscape of climate-related methane policy and policy engagement. Together, we will examine how existing regulations align—or fall short—of the scientific pathways required to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

• Vivek Parekh, Fossil Fuels Program Manager at InfluenceMap, will chart emerging trends in corporate engagement with policy to address methane emissions globally and analyze the narratives that negative industry actors are using to oppose and weaken stringent regulation.
• Jutta Paulus, Member of the European Parliament since 2019, will share insights on how companies are targeting policymakers to oppose or weaken policy and explore which policies are the targets of negative corporate advocacy.
• We will conclude with a discussion and audience Q&A.
